Œil pour Œil, Final Chapter explores the tension between past and present, the ancestral heritage transmitted through oral tradition and the incessant search for balance in a new environment. The evil eye is approached both as a protective or anxiety-inducing superstition and as a shared cultural landmark that makes it possible to preserve a link with memory and community.
Exhibitions
Œil pour Œil examines the experience of migration, identity and belonging through the prism of the belief in the “evil eye” (3ein). Presented through a palette dominated by shades of intense blue and orange, as well as a complex symbolism — such as figures with elongated necks or personified storks —, the exhibition stages cultural duality, melancholy and uprooting.
Creation and dissemination project financially supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
Exhibition from 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.
Opening on Thursday 19 November, 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
“Le Théâtre Imaginaire de Ouled Saïd” explores how the migratory experience leads one to appropriate a “vicarious memory”, inherited and reconstituted from a distance by descendants who seek to understand and connect with an identity past they have not directly lived.
The exhibition is built around three media: painting, drawing and installation.
Creation and dissemination project financially supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
